The Story

Many people want their five minutes of fame but for some, it comes at the ultimate price – their life!
Meet John Abbott, narcissistic host of infamous real-crime show Lights, Camera, KILL. Known for it’s lurid re-enactments of the darkest of trespasses, it has made him rich by exploiting pain and suffering.
Yet while Abbott basks shamelessly in the limelight, one victim has seen enough. Broken by his loss, the man has a burning thirst for revenge – and now he wants to make Abbott bleed.

Director - Gene Dolders

Hailing from Liverpool, Gene began his creative career playing bass guitar in the cult hardcore punk band Kids Who Like Ice Cream, but his true passion was always for cinema. After working as a journalist at several film festivals – including multiple editions of Sitges – his start in the industry arrived at the turn of the century as a freelance cameraman in the corporate sector. Gene spent several years honing his craft on commercial shoots in the US, Europe and the Middle East, before a move to the Far East followed in 2006. For the next decade, he lived and worked in various cities such as Daegu, Guangzhou, Macau and Manilla, soaking up the different flavours of cinema on offer while making contacts with, and learning from, people in the business. The Blade Cuts Deeper is his debut feature film.
